INTRODUCTION :
Self compacting concrete is a fluid mixture designed to be used in structures with congested reinforcement.It consolidates under its own weight , so no vibration is required for compaction.
It is achieved by :
(1) Increasing the paste volume and W/C ratio,
(2) Reducing and controlling the volume of coarse aggregate,
(3) Use of Admixtures(Super-plasticizers)and/or powdered materials(Fly-ash,lime etc).
Self-compactibility is largely affected by the characteristic property of materials and mix proportions.Following generalized changes are to be done:
->CA - 29% of total volume,
-> FA - 40% of Mortar volume,
-> W/C - 0.9-1.1 (by volume),
-> SP - 0.9-1% of binder weight.(necessary to obtain high mobility)
MIX PROPORTIONING :
MATERIALS USED:
1) Binder - OPC -43 grade
2) Mineral Admixture- Fly-ash(Gs-2.12)
3) Coarse Aggregate- 16mm&12.5mm(60:40) as per IS-2386
4)Fine Aggregate- Natural River Sand
5) Chemical Admixture- Sika Viscocrete 10R3
